Accreditations
Less than 2 per cent of the world's business schools hold both Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation—and Gustavson is proud to be one of them. Accreditation is our promise of accountability and continuous improvement. You will see this reflected in our programs, research and more.

Since 2011, Gustavson has maintained AACSB accreditation. The AACSB is one of the highest standards of quality assurance for business education and scholars.

EQUIS is a leading international system of quality assessment. All accredited institutions show high quality of:
- internationalization
- responsible management
- close interaction with the world of practice
Gustavson first received EQUIS accreditation in 2007.

The UN PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) initiative asks us to adapt what we do to advance sustainable development. You see the results in our curricula, research, teaching and strategies. Gustavson:
- joined the initiative in 2009
- became an Advanced Signatory in 2014
- became a PRME Champion in 2019

CEWIL Canada (Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada) partners with post-secondary institutions to champion work-integrated learning. The University of Victoria first received CEWIL accreditation in 2012.

Points of pride
Carbon tracking
Gustavson began tracking its carbon footprint in 2013. In 2010, the University of Victoria began offsetting all Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions as part of a broader mandate from the Government of British Columbia. In 2017, Gustavson expanded on this by committing to offset its Scope 3 emissions as well. From 2017 to 2024, we maintained carbon neutrality — making us one of the first business schools in the world to do so. As we move forward, we are reevaluating the role of offsets and considering whether to maintain carbon neutrality or pivot toward deeper, long-term carbon reduction strategies.
