Laura Kissack is the 2020 winner of the IEEE Victoria Section Gold Medal in Computer Engineering. She shares a few thoughts as she embarks on the next phase of her journey.

Favourite memory: My favourite memory from UVic is playing the game “Werewolf” with the UVic Triathlon Club before the UBC triathlon last year.

Advice: My biggest tip for other engineering students would be to join clubs outside of the faculty to meet other students and to explore other passions that they may have.

Future: Next month I am moving to Vernon to start a job working for VO2 Master, a company that produces portable VO2 analysis devices, which assess athletic performance. Over my career, I hope to improve people's health by working in the wearable-tech or medical fields by providing insights from data.
