Donate
CORE is a special place for students, helping them thrive and develop with confidence. While CORE has been steadily building momentum for over a decade, programming still depends entirely on donations. We rely on the generosity of donors like you who make it possible for students to receive the learning support they need and would otherwise not have access to.
The future of CORE
The Faculty of Education is extremely grateful for the initial major donation that helped establish CORE, and for the other donations that CORE has received in recent years, particularly from The Victoria Foundation. As CORE approaches the end of these funds, the learning center is in need of significant new support to sustain these programs and services. Every contribution helps bridge the gap and ensure that CORE can continue making a meaningful impact for years to come.
To sustain and expand CORE's impactful work, the Faculty of Education is reaching out to our community for support. A major donation to CORE would allow us to:
- Continue the consistent good work that has been done for 14 years
- Develop specialized training for tutors, focused on children’s mental health
- Increase outreach programming with Indigenous schools and communities
- Expand tutoring services to reach more children across Greater Victoria
- Develop a concrete, longer-term plan for CORE to ensure sustainability
This is an opportunity for new philanthropic gifts to directly support CORE, enabling the Faculty of Education to continue providing these essential services to children in need and expand programming. CORE has proven to be a transformative force in our community, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of all those involved. Together, we can ensure that CORE remains a cornerstone of support and empowerment for many years to come.
"My son has been attending CORE because he has Autism and learning disabilities and has fallen through the cracks in our public school system. Due to the shortage of educational assistants, he is now home with me full time unable to attend school. He is technically in Grade 4 but working at a K-1 level in reading and math with little to no written output.
Coming to CORE has reignited my son's desire to learn and it has helped him to build trust again with an adult in an educator role. I don’t know what we would do without it. My son really wants to come back in September but I hear that CORE's funding is in jeopardy.
I am writing this letter in support of the program knowing how important it is to us and so many other families. Please do whatever you can to keep it running so that kids like mine can continue to receive the one-on-one support they so desperately need and deserve."
