Center for Advanced Materials and Related Technology (CAMTEC) - CAMTEC's objectives are to carry out fundamental and applied research in advanced materials, to train technical and academic personnel in these areas, and to disseminate the knowledge gained from the research through scientific publications, conferences, workshops and seminars.

Centre for Advanced Security, Privacy, and Information Systems Research (ASPIRe)

Communication Networks Laboratory (CNL) - Group members are active in the area of computer communications networking, with special interests in network protocol and architecture design supporting emerging multimedia traffic over wired/wireless, mobile, ad hoc, and sensor networks.

Computer-Aided Design of Microwave Integrated Circuits (CADMIC) - Focusing on the computer-aided design of front-end systems, antennas and components in wireless/RF/microwave/millimeter-wave communication technology.

Computational Electromagnetics Research Laboratory (CERL) - The group's mission is to develop novel methods and procedures for the numerical modeling of guiding and radiating structures for electromagnetic waves.

Digital Signal Processing Group (DSPG) - The group consists of faculty and students working in many fundamental and applied areas of DSP such as digital filter design, adaptive filtering, digital audio, image reconstruction, image/video compression, DSP applications in communications, optimization techniques, genomic signal processing, and others.

Information Security and Object Technology (ISOT) - The main research thread pursued in the ISOT lab lies in rigorous development of secure and dependable computing systems and in the protection of these systems.

Information Security and Privacy Research (InSPiRe) - The lab's research projects focus on addressing systems-level security/privacy and distributed systems issues within large-scale IT systems and networks.

Integrated MicroSystems Research Group (IMS) - The group's research focuses on the analysis, modeling, design, synthesis, and implementation of high-performance low-power integrated multi-processor microsystems.

Laboratory for Advanced Wireless Communication Research (LAWCR) - Projects include link adaptive techniques for wireless systems, evolution of multiuser MIMO systems, and energy-efficient design for wireless communications.

Laboratory for Applied Computer Vision Algorithms (ACVA) - The group's research focuses on the development of novel algorithms for a variety of computer vision-related applications.

Laboratory for Parallel and Intelligent Systems (LAPIS) - The group's research is focused on the general area of computer engineering with specific interests in multiprocessor systems and interconnection networks; neural networks; synthesis automation; and fault detection and diagnosis of large communication networks.

Molecular Beam Epitaxy Lab (MBELAB)

Music Information and Sound Technology Interdisciplinary Centre (MISTIC) - Research areas: music, information, and sound technology.

Ocean Engineering Research Group (OER) - The group's research covers a broad spectrum of activities both above and below water. These activities include autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles; subsea fibre-optic linked observatories; high resolution acoustic imaging and mapping; acoustical oceanography; acoustic communications; subsea navigation; ocean power generation, marine mammal tracking; and benthic monitoring.

Optical Systems and Technology Laboratory (OSTL) - Researchers in this well-equipped research laboratory build innovative optical systems, advance optical device technologies and bridge novel approaches to real applications.

Signal Processing in Communications (SPROCOM) - Research topics include gestural sensors and controllers for computer music; error concealment in audio and video communication; radio propagation measurements; array processing for maximizing capacity of wireless systems; feature extraction and clustering for source coding, compression and classification; ship detection in sea clutter; spectral analysis and estimation; and multiple signal separation.
