Due to ongoing health concerns the Fall 2020 Graduation activities will not be held in an in-person format. The recognition of students’ academic success is important to the university. We are proud of the resilience our students have shown in these ever-changing times. UVic looks forward to honouring our graduating students as they embark on the next phase of their lives.

The graduating class of Fall 2020:

  • Are invited to attend a future in-person convocation over the next three years, and
  • Have the option to receive a grad box, which contains their parchment (diploma/certificate), printed program, mortarboard and tassel and alumni pin. Did you miss registering for yours? Contact .

Frequently Asked Questions

Has Fall 2020 Convocation been postponed?

Yes, Fall 2020 Convocation has been postponed. The graduating class of 2020 will be invited to attend a future in-person convocation over the next three years. 

Will I still graduate even though there is no Fall convocation ceremony?

Yes, students who have successfully completed the requirements for their degree, diploma or certificate, will graduate.

When will my credential be awarded?

Degrees, diplomas and certificates will be officially awarded on October 21, 2020. For information on the application to graduate, degree completion letters, and grad 2020, please see the following websites:

Do I have to receive a Grad Box?

No, it is optional. 

If I choose to receive a Grad Box can I still attend a future ceremony?

Yes, you can receive a grad box and attend a future ceremony over the next three years.

When can I register for a Grad Box and/or degree parchment?

Registration is now closed. Did you miss registering for yours? Contact .

When will my degree parchment (diploma) be sent?

We anticipate that all diplomas/grad boxes will be mailed within one week following the graduation date.

How will the degree parchments (diplomas) be sent?

Degree parchments diplomas will be sent via tracked Canada Post (Canada and US) and via tracked DHL (international). Only students who register by the deadline will receive a tracking number.

Can I pick up my degree parchment (diploma) instead?

At this time, it’s unknown when the Office of the Registrar will resume in-person service. Please continue to watch this page for updates.

Does having my degree parchment (diploma) and/or Grad Box mailed to me cost anything?

No, your degree parchment (diploma) and/or Grad Box will be sent by the university to the address indicated in your registration.

How do I register for future convocations?

You will be invited to participate in upcoming ceremonies, in the next three years, when it is safe to bring people together again.

Can I rent regalia or purchase regalia?

Students can rent and purchase regalia through the UVic Bookstore.  

Can I still have graduation photos taken?

Yes, you can now book sessions with UVic Photo Services
