Independent brands

Independent brands are separate entities that operate in their own right and use their own name, logo and word mark. They represent a partnership with the core brand, but operate autonomously or semi-autonomously, and would less effectively fulfill their mission under the core brand umbrella. They could dilute the effectiveness of the core brand if closely associated with it. Some independent brands are partnerships with other universities and organizations. Notification of ownership of independent brands by core brand should be represented in text associated with the unit logo, when declared at all.

Each independent brand's relationship with the core brand will be different, dependent on needs and the nature of its connection to the university. This relationship will be outlined in a specific agreement for that independent brand.
