CUPE 917 bargaining

On Sept. 25, 2026, a tentative collective agreement has been reached between the University of Victoria and CUPE 917. The tentative agreement, based on the Province’s 2025 Balanced Measures Mandate, will be in effect April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2029. It is subject to ratification by the union and its members, and by the university’s Board of Governors.

Approximately 970 staff (470 FTE), including in trades, the athletics department, grounds workers, security officers, facility attendants, as well as janitorial, maintenance and food service workers, among others, are represented in collective bargaining by CUPE 917.
