  • Name: Trinity Stanger
  • UVic degree: BA in Psychology, 2024
  • Current role: Account Executive, New Business, BC Lions

What are your favourite memories of going to UVic?

Being part of the UVic Cheer Team was definitely a highlight of my university experience. It helped me feel connected to the campus community and gave me the opportunity to get involved in so many different events, from club fairs and coaching Vikes summer camps to organizing club nights. It also helped me find my people and build a community away from home.

Outside of cheer, I spent a lot of time in the library! Looking back, some of my favourite memories are of occupying a table on the second floor with my friends, who would come and go between classes to study, chat, or take a break. Those everyday moments ended up being some of the best parts.

What does your job with the BC Lions entail?

I started working for the BC Lions in February 2026 as an Inside Sales Representative. My role focuses on ticket sales, including season tickets, group experiences and corporate sales. Day to day, I connect with individuals and organizations to learn what they’re looking for and help them find the best ticketing options for their needs. Ultimately, my goal is to make it easy for more people to experience BC Lions football and be part of the game-day atmosphere.

What skills did you gain at UVic that have helped you in your job?

UVic helped me develop strong communication and interpersonal skills. I arrived at university [from North Vancouver] without knowing anyone, so I had to step outside my comfort zone, meet new people and build my own community. Those skills translate directly into my job, where building relationships and communicating with people is part of my everyday work.

My involvement with the Vikes Cheer Team also gave me valuable experience attending events, promoting the team, connecting with others and helping organize initiatives such as fundraising events. These experiences have been incredibly transferable to my role with the Lions, whether I’m promoting the team, planning group experiences or building relationships with potential clients.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part is definitely making people happy and helping create great experiences. I love making the process of attending a game as easy and enjoyable as possible, from the initial ticket purchase to the moment they arrive at BC Place. Getting a photo or a text after a game from someone who had an amazing time is always the best feeling. Knowing I played a small part in creating that experience makes the job rewarding.

What kind of skills do you need to be good at your job?

Communication, organization, adaptability and empathy are all essential. Every person has different needs and priorities, so being able to listen, build relationships and find solutions is key.

What has surprised you most about your job?

I’ve been surprised by how much people appreciate a genuine conversation. Taking the time to chat, listen and get to know someone goes a long way.

"In an increasingly digital world, I’ve found that building real connections and making people feel heard can make all the difference."

What’s something about BC Lions or BC Place that might surprise people?

BC Place is surprisingly confusing to navigate! During my first game, I spent most of my time either lost or doing laps around the stadium. Now that I know my way around, it’s much easier, although I still get turned around every now and then!

What’s your go-to concession food item at BC Place?

Definitely the chicken tenders! Although the Korean fried chicken sandwich is also a staff favourite.

How are you feeling about the BC Lions’ chances in the postseason?

We’re really excited about the postseason! After a slow start, the organization came together, and the team put out some great performances securing a home playoff game and second in the Western Division. It’s been exciting to see that turnaround, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the team can do in the playoffs.

Do you have a favourite player?

No surprise here, but I’d say [quarterback] Nathan Rourke. Not only is he a great player, but he also gives back to the football community and the wider community. He really uses his platform to make a positive impact beyond the game.

What is something football has taught you about life?

It’s not over until it’s over.

"Football can change in an instant, and things don’t always go according to plan, but you have to keep pushing, trust your team and rely on the work you’ve put in. Life is similar as things won’t always go your way, but continuing to show up, adapt and trust the process will help you move toward your goals. You never know when an interception or a game-changing play might happen!"
