BCom grad Andrew Johns is helping drivers go electric with a new network of charging stations

Name: Andrew Johns

UVic degrees: Bachelor of Commerce '00.

My business: HoneyBadger Charging

Where it’s located: Headquartered in Vancouver, but expanding across BC and Canada.

What we do: We are an electric-vehicle charging network that is working towards electrifying North America's roads and supporting initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change. We have just installed our very first public electric-vehicle charging station at 1854 Emery Place in Victoria, situated right beside the University of Victoria campus.

Our team is: Comprised of accountants, engineers and business graduates from Western Canada dedicated to delivering top-notch service, reliability and fast chargers across British Columbia and Canada.

Why we’re unique: Let's start with our name, HoneyBadger Charging. We are a Canadian-owned EV charging network based in Vancouver on a mission to electrify North America’s roads. We offer easy-to-use, reliable and fast charging infrastructure for residential and commercial applications.

Our ideal customer is: Those who are passionate about creating a brighter, greener and more sustainable future.

Our business mantra is: Innovation is not just a buzzword, it’s a way of life.

I wasn’t expecting: The level of support we’ve received when talking to EV drivers, front-office staff and C-suite executives about the work we’re doing to create our vision for a sustainable future.

Right now, our biggest challenge is: The huge disconnect between the push for zero-carbon transportation and the reality of how truly unprepared our electrical infrastructure is to support this goal.

We’ll know we’re successful when: We’re known as North America’s most trusted and reliable EV-charging network.

Where to find us: Find us at HoneyBadger Charging.

Bottom line: Only 3% of all passenger vehicles in British Columbia are EVs. We’re in the beginning phases of this industry, and we’ll be here all the way until we reach 100%.
