Victoria College Alumni Chapter

Where it all began
Higher learning in Victoria began in 1903 with the opening of Victoria College, an affiliate of McGill University. Through the years college classes were conducted in Craigdarroch Castle, and later at the Lansdowne Campus (now home to Camosun College).
Victoria College merged with the Provincial Normal School (for teacher education) and their history and traditions of academic excellence formed the foundation for the University of Victoria when it was established in 1963.
The Victoria College Alumni Chapter hosts regular luncheons and other events for its members ("forerunners"), providing a way for members to keep in touch with each other and with UVic.

Giving
The Victoria College Alumni Chapter created two bursary funds that provide meaningful support for students of the University of Victoria.
The VCAC Bursary is awarded to deserving students in the faculties of Humanities and Science.
The Rita Perry Hammett Bursary is named for a founding member of the VCAC. The fund is designated for students in the UVic Writing program.
Also in honour of one of the founding members of the Victoria College Craigdarroch Castle Alumni Association, the Anthony Gerard “Bud” Peetz Scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding undergraduate students.
Many loyal supporters and Victoria College alumni have contributed to these funds, and we thank all of them for their kind support.
If you would like to contribute to these or other funds, please contact the UVic Development office at devdonor@uvic.ca or 250-721-7624.
