In Conversation with Ry Moran and Shelagh Rogers

Discover how the University of Victoria is helping to lead us into a new era of understanding, of healing, and furthering truth, respect and reconciliation. You are invited to learn more by joining the virtual In Conversation with UVic Chancellor Shelagh Rogers and Ry Moran. Elder Dr. Barney Williams (LLD), who is Nuu-chah-nulth and a member of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, will join the conversation. He is a residential school survivor and former member of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation Survivors Circle.

Sobering Facts: Adam Sherk helps inform drinkers

UVic alumnus Adam Sherk (PhD ’19) is a postdoctoral fellow at the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research (CISUR) at the University of Victoria. Sherk is regularly featured in news outlets around the world commenting on alcohol use and related harms. The team at CISUR is helping to rework Canadian drinking guidelines—which are expected out next year. Sherk kindly answered six questions regarding these hard truths about alcohol.

UVic’s Legacy Art Gallery — Life Stories

Life Stories is a poignant exploration of how art shapes our life stories, our sense of self and our relationships, as we journey through the life stages. Curated by three UVic Art History and Visual Studies scholars: Dr. Erin J. Campbell, professor, Jaiya Anka, PhD Candidate (UVic, MA ‘17); Holly Cecil ( BA ’16, MA ’19), Life Stories draws from UVic’s rich art collection. The evening will include a short tour/overview of the exhibition followed by a live interview led by Legacy director Mary Jo Hughes with the curators and featured artist and alumna Elly Heise (MFA ’20).
