Tricia Best

Tricia Best is the Director of the International Centre for Students at the University of Victoria, where she provides strategic leadership for international student supports, education abroad, community engagement and the development and stewardship of global partnerships. She has more than 25 years of experience working at the intersection of student affairs, academic priorities, and diverse lived experiences in post-secondary education, with a strong commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive campus communities. In her current role, she oversees a diverse portfolio and works closely with senior leaders, faculty, staff, students and sector colleagues in evolving policy, cultural and environmental contexts.

Best has contributed to numerous university-wide initiatives and committees focused on student support, policy development, and organizational change. She has been a non-voting member of the Senate Committee on Admission, Re-registration and Transfer Appeals since 2016, and was is a staff advisor for the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) program which supports students with refugee backgrounds in accessing post-secondary opportunities and fostering community engagement on campus. She is the Co-Chair of the Scarborough Charter Steering Committee, which supports institutional accountability and implementation of the Charter’s commitments to advance Black inclusion, excellence and flourishing, address systemic barriers, and sustain long-term, equity-focused change.
