Faculty bio

My research uses community-engaged methods to understand, prevent, and address gender-based violence and other forms of trauma. I approach my work with a feminist, strengths-based, critical lens. Further, I am honoured to collaborate with community members and organizations to celebrate their resilience in the face of violence and systemic barriers. As a methodological pragmatist, I use quantitative, qualitative, and arts-based research methods in my work.

I also research online masculinities in the anti-feminist Manosphere, with a particular focus on Incels. I strive to understand the experiences of men and boys as they join and leave these groups. The goal of my work in this area is to prevent violence and harm, support healthier masculinities, and work towards a more gender-equitable world.
