James is accepting graduate students.
James' research and teaching areas are political ecology, political theory, and social movement strategy. His work has appeared in the journals Socialist Studies, Theory and Event, New Political Science, Studies in Political Economy, Alternatives, and the Arrow: A Journal of Wakeful Society, Culture, and Politics. He has also written for openDemocracy, Waging Nonviolence, Truthout, The Tyee, New Politics, DeSmog Canada, The National Observer, and Resilience. James received the 2010 Andy Farquharson Award for Teaching Excellence, and the 2014 Social Science Teaching Excellence Award.
