Pushu! My name is Renée Livernoche and I trace my roots to the Innu Nation of Northern Québec and to the French settlers of Trois-Rivières and Cap-de-la-Madeleine. I am privileged to be born and raised in the Lekwungen Territory as an uninvited guest amongst the Coast Salish People of the Pacific West Coast on Turtle Island.

As the LE,NONET Experiential and Community Learning Coordinator I help Indigenous students find relevant work in their field of study and connect interested students to Indigenous organizations and First Nations communities, projects or services that impact or partner with Indigenous communities. Students can come see me to explore culturally relevant LE,NONET community internships, UVic co-op and career opportunities.

I have a background in education and training, job coaching and social services. I completed a Bachelor of Arts with a double minor in Indigenous Studies and Women’s Studies in 2007, and a Master of Arts in 2009 with a specialization in Applied Theatre. I was an interdisciplinary student and completed coursework in Indigenous education and social work, as well as psychology, sociology and ethno-ecology.

I have a strong belief that everyone can have a profound impact on the world they live in and I am dedicated to working collaboratively with others in order to learn, share and build healthy, open communities.
