The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position in Probability Theory, to commence July 1, 2016.

The University of Victoria provides an excellent environment to conduct an active research program in Probability, which is a strength in the Pacific region. The University of Victoria is a member of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), which provides opportunities for collaboration and postdoctoral support. The Department itself is highly active in research areas that touch on Probability, and the successful candidate will find a supportive and intellectually challenging academic environment at the University of Victoria.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be appointed to a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level at the University of Victoria. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the Mathematical sciences. The successful candidate will have a research area in Probability Theory with demonstrated potential for establishing an internationally recognized research program, as demonstrated for example by a solid publication record in highly ranked peer-reviewed journals, and will have the potential for synergy with existing research themes in the Department in Pure and Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, and will demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching so as to maintain and enhance the department’s high teaching standard.
