In Memoriam: Fred Fischer

Fred Fischer passed away on December 10, 2021. Fred was Chair of the Chemistry Department in the 1970’s. He also took a variety of high level administrative positions at the University, including VP Academic and Dean of Arts & Science. Fred was instrumental in setting up the Faculty of Engineering at UVic. He clearly made a very positive impact that went well beyond our Department and Chemistry.  

Fred will be remembered as a superb, thoughtful and energetic administrator as well as an outstanding organic chemist. He was also a great mentor for everyone in the Department.
