Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society Award*

One or more awards are given to transferring or continuing undergraduate students in any discipline who are conducting innovative and creative research in Japanese Canadian history, art, culture, and/or language.

Eligibility

In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).

How to apply

Applicants must submit the following to the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, by May 15:

1. A statement of intent (maximum 500 words) outlining their proposed research and describing how their work contributes to, promotes and/or engages with Japanese Canadian history, art, culture, and/or language;
2. A letter of support from the UVic faculty member(s) who will supervise the proposed research; and
3. A CV and official UVic transcript.

To accept your scholarship offer:

Have a NetLink ID
Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
Select "Student Services" on the top menu
Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
Select "View My Student Aid"
Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
