Vancouver Island Trails Information Society Scholarship

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate students entering third or fourth year in a declared Major or Minor in Environmental Studies, who have completed a field school in the previous summer or winter session. This scholarship may be awarded to a graduating student. Approval of the recipient(s) will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Environmental Studies.

Eligibility

In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).

How to apply

Applicants must submit a 1-page letter outlining how the material and teachings from their ES field school experience will assist in their future careers. Please submit your letter to esawards@uvic.ca by May 31.

How to accept

To accept your scholarship offer:

  1. Have a NetLink ID
  2. Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
  3. Select "Student Services" on the top menu
  4. Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
  5. Select "View My Student Aid"
  6. Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
  7. Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
