One or more awards are given to undergraduate students continuing in fourth year in either the Department of Computer Science or the Department of Software Engineering who have an interest in game development.
Applicants must:
- submit a letter (maximum 500 words) answering the question "What do video games mean to you?",
- have demonstrated a strong aptitude for programming, and
- have demonstrated an interest in game development through:
- previous experience developing games, internships, co-ops, or work experience in the video game industry
- participation in Game Jams
- developing personal game projects
- membership or participation in groups such as the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) or UVicGameDev
Application forms are available on the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science website and must be submitted by April 30. Approval of the recipient(s) will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.

In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).

How to accept
To accept your scholarship offer:
- Have a NetLink ID
- Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
- Select "Student Services" on the top menu
- Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
- Select "View My Student Aid"
- Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
- Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
