Howard Petch Scholarship
Nine scholarships are awarded to the students entering second, third, fourth or fifth year who achieve the highest academic standing in each of the Faculties of Business, Education, Engineering, Human and Social Development, Fine Arts, Law, Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences. The measure of academic standing will be grade point average on a full time course load (normally 15 units) taken in the preceding two academic terms. In the event of a tie, the scholarship will be shared. The amount of each scholarship will be $3,500 or the lesser amount required to place the recipient at a total amount of $5,000 (or a total amount of $10,000 for the Faculty of Law).

Eligibility
In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).
How to apply
GPA-based scholarships are awarded solely on academic excellence. No application is required. Student Awards and Financial Aid will determine the appropriate recipients. The recipients will receive a notification by email in August.How to accept
To accept your scholarship offer:
- Have a NetLink ID
- Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
- Select "Student Services" on the top menu
- Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
- Select "View My Student Aid"
- Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
- Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
