Black Student Leadership Award
One or more awards of $7,500 are given to undergraduate students continuing at UVic who self-identify as Black and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and extracurricular activities that strengthen the student experience at UVic. Students must submit a letter (maximum 300 words) outlining their contribution to the UVic community.
Approval of the recipients will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Division of Student Affairs.

Eligibility
In-Course scholarships, awards, medals and prizes are offered to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12.0 units for credit, of which 10.5 units are graded using the standard nine point scale, in two of the three terms of study in the previous academic year (May to April). In-course scholarships, awards and prizes are awarded in the subsequent winter session (September to April).
How to apply
Students must submit a letter (maximum 300 words) outlining their contribution to the UVic community to fcanjura@uvic.ca by end of day April 30th.
Please ensure that your full name and student ID are included in the letter. The letter must be submitted via email attachment and include Black Student Leadership Award in the subject line of the email.
How to accept
To accept your scholarship offer:
- Have a NetLink ID
- Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
- Select "Student Services" on the top menu
- Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
- Select "View My Student Aid"
- Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
- Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
