Mina Hoorfar Award for Indigenous Students in Engineering and Computer Science

One award of $1,000 is given to First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit entering, transferring or continuing undergraduate student in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. Part time students (registered in a minimum of 6.0 units for credit in two of the three terms) are eligible.

Applicants must submit a letter (max 400 words) reflecting on:
- how they see their degree empowering them to help others and their community and,
- how a degree in engineering and computer science will help solve or contribute to solving global challenges

Approval of the recipient is made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science.

Applicants, candidates or nominees for this award who have indicated they are First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit are required to demonstrate their eligibility for Indigenous-specific awards in alignment with the Indigenous Citizenship Declaration (ICD) Policy (GV0810).

How to accept

To accept your scholarship offer:

  1. Have a NetLink ID
  2. Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
  3. Select "Student Services" on the top menu
  4. Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
  5. Select "View My Student Aid"
  6. Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
  7. Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
