One or more awards are given to entering undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need and are members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity, including, but not limited to:
- First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit students;
- members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, colour, religion and/or spiritual beliefs or place of origin.
Applicants, candidates or nominees for this award who have indicated they are First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit are required to demonstrate their eligibility for Indigenous-specific awards in alignment with the Indigenous Citizenship Declaration (ICD) Policy (GV0810).

How to accept
To accept your scholarship offer:
- Have a NetLink ID
- Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools account using your NetLink ID
- Select "Student Services" on the top menu
- Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
- Select "View My Student Aid"
- Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
- Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
