Dr. Stephanie Willerth works in partnership with STEMCELL Technologies Inc. to develop technologies for reproducibly engineering neural tissue for treatment of diseases like Parkinson’s or repair of spinal cord injuries. Dr. Willerth is one of a number of UVic recipients of NSERC’s Engage Grants, a funding source used to develop new research opportunities through university and industry partnerships.

Collaboration with industry plays a key role in advancing new technologies and accelerating the advancement of academic research. Industry engagement results in strong mutual benefits: Industry partners can help guide early-stage research into commercially viable ventures, and UVic researchers can provide the essential expertise in technology research and development.

We support the brokering and facilitation of industry research partnerships through such services as coordinating visits with individual companies, as well as organizing large scale networking events.

Research funding

Funding programs are an essential element in fueling the growth of academic research. Our unit supports UVic researchers in both accessing funding opportunities and reviewing grant proposals and applicable research agreements. Funding opportunities for industry related research include:
