Michael Paskevicius is an Associate Professor of Educational Technology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. His research focuses on learning design practices, the development of digital literacies, and supporting personal knowledge management in an environment of rapid technological change. He has worked in higher education institutions across Southern Africa and Western Canada since 2005, supporting collaborative, creative, and personalized approaches to learning. As an advocate for openness in education, his research explores the integration of open source tools, open educational resources, and the development of open educational practices among educators. His work supporting and advancing open education has been recognized with an Award for Excellence in Open Education from BCcampus.

Lindsay Kincaid is an educator, researcher, and nonprofit leader with more than 20 years of experience designing learning experiences that connect creativity, technology, and community. A PhD student in Educational Studies at the University of Victoria, her participatory research examines how storytelling and media-based practices can support place-based learning, civic inquiry, and community action, particularly in under-resourced and Indigenous contexts.
Lindsay’s professional background spans K–12 education, higher education, and global nonprofit leadership. She began her career as a public high school teacher in Kansas, teaching English, video production, IB Film Studies, and spoken word poetry. These formative years shaped her enduring commitment to youth voice, creative expression, and educator capacity-building. She later led open education initiatives at the CK-12 Foundation and most recently served as Chief Program Officer at Team4Tech, partnering with community-based organizations in more than 100 countries to co-design equitable, technology-enabled learning programs.
In addition to her leadership roles, Lindsay has coached master’s-level educators as adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University and contributed to global education innovation as a Social Entrepreneur Fellow with MIT Solve and the Jacobs Foundation. She currently serves on the boards of Kenya Connect and the Open/Technology in Education, Society, and Scholarship Association (OTESSA). She holds a Master of Science in Education from the University of Kansas.
Grounded in professional experiences across six continents, Lindsay’s research emphasizes ethical, inquiry-driven approaches that treat young people as collaborators, with particular attention to how youth-generated stories can inform dialogue, decision-making, and collective action.

Valerie Zuccolo is a higher education leader based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with experience in online learning, instructional design, and program development. She currently serves as Director of Online and Flexible Learning for Simon Fraser University's Continuing Studies, where she oversees strategic initiatives that expand access to education through digital platforms.
Her commitment to institutional governance is reflected in her active participation in SFU Senate committees, including initiatives to advance digital pedagogy across the institution.
Valerie’s career in higher education spans both administrative leadership and instruction. She has taught communications, leadership, and management at the post-secondary level.
She holds a Master of Education in Learning Design and Educational Technology from SFU and is currently a doctoral student in Educational Technology at the University of Victoria. Her research focuses on student persistence in online learning, specifically examining what factors influence whether nontraditional students complete their programs. She's particularly interested in course design, teaching presence, and how community gets built in digital spaces. Her work aims to shift how institutions view their role in student success and to create environments where diverse learners can succeed.
