Mariel is the Co-Chair of the Generative AI Teaching and Learning Community of Practice at UVic, which provides a collaborative space to explore the use of generative AI in teaching and learning, with a focus on course design, assessment and academic integrity.

BC Campus AI Network of Practice

Mariel contributes to the B.C. Campus AI Network of Practice, a collaborative network for B.C. post-secondary leaders of AI Communities of Practice and institutional AI initiatives to share initiatives, learn from one another, and discuss challenges and potential solutions

B.C. Post-Secondary AI Policy Working Group

2025
Mariel contributed to the B.C. Post-Secondary AI Policy Working Group, which developed the Model Principles and Guidelines for AI Use to support the responsible and appropriate use of artificial intelligence across B.C.'s post-secondary system.
