Emma Bowick

Position
Emma Bowick is a joint graduate student fellow with the Borders in Globalization project and the Center for Global Studies. Emma is currently pursuing a PhD in the Department of Geography, working alongside researchers in the Environmental Governance Group.
Emma’s PhD research is focused on the politics of accountability, global environmental governance, and methods for embedding corporate accountability efforts into Canada’s international supply chains. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree with a double major in Geography and Political Science from UVic, completed in 2023.
Since 2017, Emma has been residing and studying on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ peoples, acknowledging her settler descent. Throughout her academic journey, Emma has gained valuable experience as a research assistant with multiple interdisciplinary research clusters at UVic, as well as co-op experiences with the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Franca, Brazil, the Government of British Columbia, and the Capital Regional District’s Regional Parks Department.
