Shubham Arora is a PhD Candidate in Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia and a Harold Coward India Research Fellow at the University of Victoria, jointly affiliated with the Centre for Global Studies (CFGS), the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society (CSRS), and the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives (CAPI). His research interests include premodern South Asian religions, Sanskrit language and literature, intellectual history, and critical approaches to gender, sexuality, and erotics, with particular attention to performance and oral traditions. Trained in kathak, he also engages embodied practice as a mode of scholarly inquiry, and he is always happy to read and translate Sanskrit poetry.
