A week-long intensive course in Cambridge Bay is a perfect example of the range of compelling experiential-learning courses offered by UVic for students within the CALR program. Art Napoleon was already a national figure when his TV show, Moosemeat & Marmalade, premiered on APTN in January 2015. He had performed at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, opened for Buffy Sainte-Marie and been interviewed by veteran correspondent Tom Hawthorn for the Globe and Mail in September 2010 for the release of his album Creeland Covers, sung almost exclusively in Cree.

“Personal success is not personal,” says Blaise Bazuik, who will graduate this month with a BA Honours in Women’s Studies and speaks with enthusiasm about the support she has received from both the women’s studies community and the on-campus Indigenous community. She credits them for her academic and personal success.
