Dr. Tayler Zavitz is the Advocacy Programs Specialist at Animal Justice. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Victoria, with a specialization in Critical Animal Studies. Her doctoral research explored the history of the animal rights movement in Canada, focusing on its repression and criminalization, as well as the emotional experiences and responses of activists facing such repression.
About Tayler Zavitz
Dr. Tayler Zavitz is the Advocacy Programs Specialist at Animal Justice. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Victoria, with a specialization in Critical Animal Studies. Her doctoral research explored the history of the animal rights movement in Canada, focusing on its repression and criminalization, as well as the emotional experiences and responses of activists facing such repression. Dr. Zavitz has spent nearly a decade teaching in academia, with courses covering topics such as critical animal studies, social movements, food studies, and crime and deviance. A dedicated animal advocate, she also has nearly 20 years of experience working with non-profit organizations to advance animal protection in Canada.
