About the program

The Jean Monnet Action Program is a European Commission initiative to increase knowledge about European integration by promoting teaching, research and debate on the history, politics, economics and law of the European Union and the EU's relations with other areas of the world.  The program consists of the creation of Jean Monnet Chairs, Centres of Excellence, Projects, Modules, and information and research activities, as well as support for academic assocatiations between professors and researchers of European integration. There are three main components to the program:

  • Stimulating academic excellence in the field of European integration with support for teaching, research, and debate activities at the university level
  • Fostering academic reflection on current policy priorities in the filed of European integration via centralized high-level conferences and tehmatic groups by bringing together Jean Monnet professors, policy-makers and civil society in Brussels, as well as providing support for decentralized reflection activities around the world
  • Supporting major institutions active in the study of European integration
