Dr. Scott is an associate professor of philosophy who specializes in early modern European thought (1600-1800). His focus is on the rationalism and metaphysics of Descartes, Malebranche, Spinoza and (especially) Leibniz. Most recently his interests in this area have centered on the theory of the person or individual in relation to the divine. In the long term his studies are directed at the conceptual continuities between early modern rationalism and contemporary continental European philosophy.
