Readers of the Holocaust

Wedenesday, November 2, 4:30-5:30 pm, HHB, room 105.
The film Readers of the Holocaust by Chorong Kim asks how can the Holocaust education lead our current generation of students to an understanding of the ongoing events of genocide and violations of human rights. In this community-engaged Holocaust education/awareness project, UVic's Dr. Charlotte Schallié and Victoria High School's Ms. Georgina Hope used graphic novels as textbooks and invited various members of the Victoria community, including a child Holocaust survivor. The film shows the dynamic process of how the participants in this education project including teachers, students, and survivors memorise the Holocaust and contemporise those memories.

Readers of the Holocaust premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival in September 2016 and won the Best Documentary award in its 47th Student Film Festival, National Competition."
