Hanna Protasova obtained her Master’s Degree in Ukrainian Studies and Comparative Literature from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv, Ukraine) and completed the study program at Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute in 2018. From 2016 to 2021, she has worked as a cultural journalist, editor, and manager with “Krytyka” Journal and Publishing House and as an expert of Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (Kyiv, Ukraine). Her small set of poetry in Russian was published in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 2020.

Hanna’s prospective master’s thesis explores the issues of identity and strategies of othering in the discourse of Soviet Ukrainian fiction and non-fiction during and shortly after World War II. Her research interests include Ukrainian literature of the 20th century, Ukrainian émigré literature, cultural theory, conceptions of subjectivity and identity, discourse analysis, contemporary Ukrainian and Russian literature.
