Kästle Van Der Meer is a graduate of the University of Victoria’s History MA program. Her thesis investigated Jewish resistance to sexualized violence in Nazi forced labour, concentration, and death camps. Reflecting her background in Gender Studies and History, Kästle’s other research interests include gender and sexuality in the Holocaust, and she is passionate about Holocaust education.

Kästle understands the importance of undergraduate courses in shaping students’ perspectives and lives. She aims to help students succeed in their coursework and encourages them to use the skills and knowledge they learn in the classroom to better the lives of themselves and others.

Kästle currently works an instructor the Academic and Technical Writing Program as well as the Division of Continuing Studies at UVic. She teaches the following courses:

  • ISP 200: Introduction to Intercultural Studies
