Jon Nash has held various teaching roles here at UVic and elsewhere, including course instructor and teaching assistant since 2018. His role as your instructor is to facilitate an accessible learning space and community in the classroom where you can meet both the course objectives and your own learning goals. The way he sees it, every student is on their own learning journey with different expectations and goals, and he is here to help you along that journey however he can. He wants you to take the skills and knowledge attained through workshops and activities in his classroom and be able to bring them into other courses and other projects throughout your learning and professional careers. As a researcher, Jon Nash studies asylum and refugee writing, and so he has come to appreciate writing in all its forms as one of the most important tools in our communities and our lives. Outside of the university, he really enjoys making food and nerdy stuff.
