Area of expertise

ATWP 135

I completed my PhD in history at the University of Victoria in May 2025. My dissertation investigates how Canadian parliamentarians reasoned Canada’s rights in immigration matters, including admission, exclusion, and deportation, from 1867 to 1977. My research interests include Canada’s constitutional and political history, Indigenous-Crown relations, global history of migration, and social history of faith and spirituality.

I teach with the conviction that learning thrives where support, inspiration, and joy abounds. Throughout my university years, I benefitted greatly from the classes that guided me in my intellectual and personal growth. The professors and peers I met in those classes continue to inspire me. As an instructor, I aspire to provide my students with similar learning experiences.

I am delighted to teach ATWP 135. Its values resonate deeply with me. The research, reading, and writing skills taught in this course facilitate academic success, civic engagement, and career development. It takes training and ongoing practice to hone those skills. I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the ATWP 135 teaching and learning community.
