Barbara Fox

Barbara Fox is an Assistant Teaching Professor Emeritus and Assistant Adjunct Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. She served as an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Victoria School of Nursing 2011 until 2018, with a primary focus on NP (nurse practitioner) practicerole implementation, and support of the UVic NP Program. In 2014, she was interim NP Program Coordinator. Barbara was instrumental in strengthening the development of the NP Program Observed Clinical Exams (OSCE) and established the Challenging Conversations simulation program for UVic NP students. She received a UVic Teaching Professor Scholarship in 2016. She has been a consultant with the College of Registered Nurses of BC on NP privileging standards, prescribing, and competencies. 

In her retirement from UVic SON, Barbara continues to support the School through her work with the Adjunct Professors Committee. She also supports the NP program as an OSCE examiner, and is a member of the NP Program Advisory Committee.  

As a part of the Vancouver Island Health Authority Division of Nurse Practitioners, Barbara has continued her clinical practice as a locum NP, providing care for communities on the Southern Gulf Islands and within the Island Health region. She is a member of the Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC as well as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is registered as an NP (Family in BC and board certified as Family Nurse Practitioner in the United States and the State of California)
