Qualifications
Ideal candidates will hold a minimum master's degree. They will have excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills. Candidates will have a functional and pedagogical understanding of population health perspectives. The TA will assist with discussions on the definitions of health, starting with individual constructions and moving towards an understanding of health as a social and cultural construct. The TA will assist students in critically analyzing health inequities—how and why some populations experience better or worse health than others. A range of population health promotion interventions is explored, from healthy public policy to the re-orientation of the health care system.
Summary of duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities of the teaching assistant will include moderating discussion boards and facilitating deep class discussions; timely and effective communication with students, the instructor, and other TA(s); creativity and a willingness to contribute substantially to developing excellent course content (including coordinating with guest lecturers); pre-testing quizzes and exams and grading written assignments and exams.
