Hourly rate $34.72 + 4% vacation pay

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will hold a minimum master's degree. They will have excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills. Candidates will have a functional and pedagogical understanding of Indigenous peoples’ experiences with settler colonialism in Canada. TAs will help guide understanding of the historical and contemporary contexts surrounding health disparities and inequities experienced by First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. The TA will help with facilitating discussions on Indigenous concepts of health and wellbeing, with a focus on resistance and leadership of Indigenous Peoples in addressing health challenges.

Summary of duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities of the teaching assistant will include moderating discussion boards and facilitating deep class discussions; timely and effective communication with students, the instructor, and other TA(s); creativity and a willingness to contribute substantially to developing excellent course content (including coordinating with guest lecturers); pre-testing quizzes and exams and grading written assignments and exams.
