April 2026 student spotlight: Pablo González-Nieto and Abdul Abdulmalik

This month we have two exciting publications to share from SDH students:
Pablo González-Nieto, SDH MSc student and Research Assistant at the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research (CISUR), at the University of Victoria, has recently published an article in Addiction, together with the Substance Drug Checking team. The paper, “Drug sellers’ use of a drug checking service amidst the overdose crisis in British Columbia, Canada,” highlights the role of drug sellers as a key group for implementing drug checking as a supply-level harm reduction strategy. https://doi.org/10.1111/add.70429
Abdulrasheed Abdulmalik, SDH PhD student, has recently published their research in the British Medical Journal. "Culturally appropriate sexual health interventions for STBBI and HIV among racialized immigrant communities in Western nations: a scoping review protocol" https://doi.org/10.1136/bmjopen-2025-110381
