Dual Degree Program


“2+2” Dual Degree Program

The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program at Gustavson initiated it’s “2+2” dual degree program in 2008. In Year 1 & Year 2 students complete pre-commerce courses (a mix of required courses and electives) and in Year 3 & Year 4 students complete their commerce courses.

Dual Degree students apply for entry directly into Year 3 of the BCom program, after successfully completing a minimum of 2 years at their home institution. Upon completion of the BCom program, students will graduate with two degrees, a BCom degree from the Gustavson School of Business and a degree from their home institution.

Dual Degree Admission Requirements

All applicants will be evaluated on the following:

  • Two years of courses at home institution—minimum “B-” letter grade average on the UVic
  • Required courses—minimum “B-”average, with no individual mark lower than “C+”.
  • International students must satisfy the UVic English Language Proficiency (ENPR) requirement

English Language Proficiency Requirement

All applicants to UVic (regardless of country of origin or citizenship status) are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission.

  • IELTS: 5 with no individual component less than 6.0
  • TOEFL: 90 on the online test or 575 on the paper-based test, with no section less than 20

Co-op work terms

  • Mandatory Co-op—you will complete 3 paid co-op work terms by the time you That is close to 1 year of full-time work experience!
  • Students who have previous work experience are eligible to challenge one of the co-op You only need to complete two additional regular co-op work terms in Year 3 and Year 4.
  • Your dedicated Co-op Coordinator will coach you through your co-op journey from day
