Dan Buchner is an award-winning designer, innovator, entrepreneur and business executive. He is founder and principal of ‘praktikel working at the intersection of innovation, leadership and learning (since 2017). Dan believes in the power of innovation and leadership to positively impact society. His recent work has involved using innovation as an economic, leadership and social development tool in South Africa, El Salvador, Jordan, and rural India.
For nearly 30 years, Dan has been developing innovative new products, creating compelling new services, and helping leaders foster innovative practices within their organizations and communities. He has directed interdisciplinary projects for leading organizations such as Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, the Prime Ministers Office of Singapore, Rockefeller Foundation and USAID.
His past roles include VP Leadership at the Banff Centre 2014-2016), Director of Innovation at the Center for Creative Leadership (2011-2014), VP Organizational Innovation at Design Continuum Inc. (2000-2011) and VP Innovation and Design ant Moen Incorporated (1991-2000). He is listed as inventor on 25 patents and was voted innovator of the year by the Economic Development Institute.
Since 2017, he is concurrently appointed Adjunct Professor at the University of Victoria's Gustavson School of Business. He also serves on the board of Pain BC.
Dan is a graduate of the Fanshawe School of Design and the Coaches Training Institue’s Co-Active Coaching and Leadership Programs.
