Area of expertise
Playwriting, libretto writing.
Erin Bregman (she/her) is a playwright, librettist, classical guitarist, and occasional letterpress printer. She writes texts that use words and music to tell stories for live audiences. Sometimes they’re called plays, other times operas or cantadas or song cycles. Once she wrote a winding tale for a violinist singer-songwriter to deliver as stage banter between songs.
Her work has been produced and developed at Washington National Opera, The Hot Air Music Festival, Just Theater, Rorschach Theater, 6NewPlays, The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Inkwell, Profile Theater, American Conservatory Theater, The Lark, The Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Impact Theater, and PlayGround. For over a decade, Erin made operas with kids as a teaching artist with the San Francisco Opera, and founder and director of Little Opera.
