Facilities Management Service Rates

Facilities Management provides a wide range of services to the campus community. Services provided to UVic ancillary departments and agencies, as well as services provided to UVic departments that are above normal service levels are charged to the requestor on a cost-recovery basis.

Service rates are intended to reflect the principles of cost neutrality and transparency, and ensure that charges are applied consistently. These rates are approved by the Vice-President Finance and Operations.

Service Recovery Rates

Project Management Services
UVic Project Management Services team 5% of Total Project Cost
UVic Interior Modifications Services team 5% of Total Project Cost
UVic Maintenance and Operations 5% of Total Project Cost
External Project Management firm 100% of firm's cost + 15% administrative fee on the firm's cost
Design Services
UVic Interior Modifications Services team 5% of value of work (As determined by Facilities Management)*
External Design firm 100% of firm's cost + 15% administrative fee on the firm's cost
Used Furniture Value of furniture + moving costs + 15% administrative fee on moving costs
Materials and Supplies Value of materials and/or supplies + 5% administrative fee**

*An additional 5% project management fee will be applied to the Total Project Cost for modification projects that move beyond the design/costing phase.

**FMGT will continue to charge an administrative fee of 5% on the value of materials and/or supplies.

Components of Facilities Management Hourly Service Rates

Average hourly rate paid – includes supervisory wages, provisional pay and premiums. Does not include management wages, overtime and termination payouts.

Time off recovery - costs such as backfill for vacation, sick time and training.  

Preparation and clean-up – time spent in trades shops for general job/shop clean up and preparation.

Vehicles and equipment – cost of replacement, repairs and fuel.   

Administration – administrative support wages directly related to charge-back work.    

Benefits – employee benefit costs are recovered from ancillary departments and agency customers.  A factor is applied to the base charge out rate to incorporate the cost of employee benefits.
