Welcome to Planning Tools

Thank you for visiting the Planning Tools (formerly Enhanced Planning Tools) website.

The Planning Tools report is comprised of multiple sections with different due dates. The report is accessible throughout the year with the exception of a two week period for data collection. The different due dates are indicative of when this information is needed for institutional planning purposes.

 The due dates for units completing leaf reports are as follows:

  • Core Questions: January 30, 2021
  • Academic Areas Questions: October 1, 2021
  • Administrative and Service Areas Questions: October 1, 2021
  • Data Packet Questions: October 1, 2021

Note: Unit heads (such as deans and executive directors) who complete roll-up reports have up to two additional weeks after these due dates to submit their report so that they can consider their unit's leaf reports (for instance, reports from departments, programs, service units, etc.) in their submission. The new Planning Tools APEX Platform will improve the overall experience of users by:

  • paring down the number of questions each unit is asked
  • establishing clear ties between the questions and their purpose within the larger university framework
  • incorporating the ability to easily access old reports.

The project team has gathered feedback from the UVic Community Engagement Group, chairs and directors, and various other Planning Tools stakeholders and taken their feedback into account in the design process.
