June 20, 2007 - The bestowal took place on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Theresianum, Technische Universitaet Muenchen. A 2-day symposium with several social events was held following the ceremony. The citation on the honorary doctoral certificate reads:

For Extraordinary Achievements in the Theory of Electromagnetic Fields, especially the Development of Modern Numerical Methods for the Modeling of Electromagnetic Fields.

Dr. Wolfgang Hoefer is Professor emeritus with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of the IEEE, and world renown for his contributions in microwave, millimeter wave, optical theory and applications, and computational electromagnetics.
