Time: 15:30:00 - 17:00:00
Place: Graduate Student Centre - University of Victoria

ABSTRACT

Bill Collins, a Marine Geologist/Sedimentologist for eighteen years, is a Vice President at Quester Tangent Corporation, a world leader in the use of acoustic data for seabed classification. He will talk about how acoustics is used to classify the seabed and how this information is used in habitat mapping.

Ross Chapman is a Professor and Senior Chair of Ocean Acoustics at the University of Victoria. His research interests include the application of acoustic inverse methods for estimation of geophysical properties of the ocean bottom and source localization. He will talk about the Canadian Marine Acoustic Remote Sensing Facility, a new research facility at UVic formed in collaboration with Quester Tangent.
