ABSTRACT

Abstract:

An overview of Liquefied Natural Gas facilities will be presented including the technology, process, commercial and political aspects of a typical LNG facility. Reference will be made to the proposed LNG peak shaving plant intended for the Sunshine Coast, BC.

Topics include:

  1. Why do it? An overview of why companies go to all the trouble and expense of building LNG facilities.
  2. LNG Process. A typical P&ID drawing will show a high level comparison of refrigeration cycles and effect of cooling on J-T expansion.
  3. Site selection. An examination of some of the parameters required to site an LNG facility, topographical and political, using the proposed Sunshine Coast BC facility as an example.
  4. Construction and Operating Costs. Typical construction costs and site specific costs will be discussed.
